From the mining of flake graphite to the production of contaminant free graphite concentrate and its refining to deliver HPG products, this end-to-end process represents a global secure, reliable, traceable and environmentally sustainable supply chain.
The Sunlands Pure process is uniquely capable of purifying Eastern Eyre Peninsula natural flake graphite to a purity of 99.9% graphitic carbon at the size fraction distribution of the concentrate product mix.
High purity graphite (HPG) is produced utilising an environmentally benign alkaline-light acid process (ALA Process).
The ALA Process is a conventional proven process that delivers HPG at quality levels sufficient to meet the stringent standards of Tier 1 Lithium-ion anode and high-specification isostatic graphite which is used in advanced medical materials and defence industry.
The ALA Process treats the feedback with two primary processes:
1. caustic soda roast;
2. sulfuric acid rinse
At the end of these processes the resulting HPG is rinsed, dried in a conventional kiln and screened. Production is concluded once HPG is certified and packaged for market.
Capable of meeting needs of diverse market segments including the Li-ion battery, isostatic graphite and thermal energy storage markets.
A continuous (not a batch) process capable of producing HPG at a far larger scale than currently available in China.
This proven process has three key advantages:
1. Avoids the harsh chemical refining processes adopted
in China and necessary to treat and refine feedstock sourced from orebodies that include heavy metals and other contaminants
2. Highly scalable, capital light and capable of expansion with very short lead times
3. Achieved at the size fraction distribution of the feedstock product mix from minesite processing without any further degradation of particle size ensuring the broadest market coverage
